Cycling to Garachico and Punta de Teno on Tenerife is a beautiful but challenging tour that takes you through impressive landscapes, historic villages and breathtaking views.
We drive from Adeje by car to Erjos on the west side. Erjos is the starting point of the tour.
We immediately start the descent to Garachico. Garachico is one of the most beautiful and historic villages in Tenerife. It is located on the northwest coast and is known for its volcanic swimming pools and charming streets.
From Garachico we head towards Punta Teno. This road goes along the coastline, with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean.
After 10 km of cycling from Garachico you come through Buenavista Norte, a small village surrounded by agricultural terraces and mountains. Here the climb towards the mountains of Teno begins.
The road to Punta de Teno is narrow and winds along the cliffs, with the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. Cars are also prohibited.
Punta de Teno is the westernmost point of Tenerife and offers stunning views of the cliffs of Los Gigantes and the ocean.
We then take the same route back to Garachico to climb back to El Tanque. The climb is 7% and goes up via several hairpin bends, with views of the ocean and the surrounding volcanic terrain.
